Tucson Facelift

Over time, the facial skin loses elasticity and volume, causing fine lines, deep wrinkles, and creases to form. To alleviate these signs of aging, Jeffrey Nelson, M.D., F.A.C.S. offers facelift surgery at his Tucson practice. Along with his highly qualified staff, Dr. Nelson is focused on patient education and will provide each individual with the necessary information regarding his/her surgery of choice.

What can facelift surgery do for me?

A cosmetic facelift ("rhytidectomy") is designed to reduce sagging in the cheek, jowl, and neck region, while lifting the facial skin to a more youthful appearance. During your visit, Dr. Nelson will examine your facial anatomy and determine the best technique to reach your desired outcome. Depending on the extent of your facial aging, our facelift doctor will perform either a full facelift, mini facelift, a Minimal Access Cranial Suspension lift (MACS), or a Threadlift, depending on your best option.

A full facelift is performed through an incision made behind or along the natural hairline and the edges of the ears, offering minimal scarring. Dr. Nelson then repositions the underlying tissues to a higher location on the facial structure, followed by the removal of excess skin. A mini facelift, on the other hand, strictly focuses on specific regions of the upper and mid-face, such as the folds around the nose or jowl. Incisions are minimal and recovery time is shorter in comparison to a full rhytidectomy. This minimally invasive facial lifting is often accompanied by facial fillers (the liquid facelift).

Dr. Nelson performs the MACS lift by using a more limited incision as a full facelift procedure; however, he typically uses two to three sutures to vertically lift the underlying tissues. This will lift the facial skin without producing the "windswept" appearance.

In addition, our facelift surgeon may opt to perform the Contour ThreadliftT when minimal signs of aging are apparent. This new suspension suture technique allows patients to undergo facial rejuvenation on an outpatient basis with local anesthesia and a shorter recovery. Further information is available during your initial consultation.

If you would like to achieve a total facial makeover, facelift patients can combine nose surgery ("rhinoplasty"), eyelid surgery ("blepharoplasty"), and/or facial injectables. Skin resurfacing treatments are also available, with the most commonly performed including chemical peels and laser resurfacing.
