Liposculpture (Liposuction)

Liposuction abdomen, flanks, thighs

30 yrs., 5'3" 130 lbs, 2 kids, lipo abdomen, thighs & flanks

Liposculpture has had numerous advancements over the last twenty-five years since it began in France.  Today, we have many cannulas (suction tubes) to choose from for different depths and stiffness of fatty tissues.  Fluids with numbing medicine (local anesthesia) and medication to decrease blood loss and bruising are placed into the fat (tumescent technique).  Dr. Nelson also uses the Erchonia® Laser (see Erchonia® Laser page) an FDA approved device that increases fat removal, decreases pain and bruising, and hastens recovery following liposuction.  A series of laser treatments will be used postoperatively to decrease pain and swelling.

Liposuction is frequently used as a component of abdominoplasty, brachioplasty, body lifts, or breast reduction surgery to tailor the desired aesthetic result.

Patients wear compression garments for several weeks following liposuction to help resolve tissue swelling.
