If you wish to "kick" your lashes up a notch, Latisse is an excellent product that makes lashes fuller, longer, and more dramatic. Our patients love the way Latisse makes their eyes pop and highlighted. Weak and thin eyelashes have the medical term hypotrichosis. Latisse is felt to improve eyelash growth by lengthening the active growth phase of your lashes. Lashes have distinctive growth phases (anagen phase) stop growth phase (catagen phase) and a resting phase (telogen phase). While the precise mechanism of action is maintained it is felt that Latisse maintains the growth or anagen phase of the lashes hair follicle which makes the lash longer and thicker.
Latisse comes in a small 3 ml drop bottle and is applied to the lash line with fine applicator brushes provided with the product. As with all medications it is important to read the product's literature and safety information. Though infrequent, the most common potential problems with Latisse can be eyelid skin darkening, which may be reversible. There is also the risk of brown pigmentation changes in the iris of the eye and this may not be reversible. Latisse can also effect eye pressure so if you use prescription medications to control eye pressure be sure the doctor is aware and a closer follow up may be required if you use Latisse.
Latisse is meant for the upper eyelid lashes only. Many patients in our practice have seen significant changes in their lashes in only 6 weeks but it may take 3 months to see a dramatic effect on your lashes. If you want to have natural beautiful lashes, consider Latisse as a terrific option and contact Tucson plastic surgeon, Jeffrey Nelson MD.
