Eyelid Surgery - Blepharoplasty

As the saying goes, the “eyes are the window to the soul” and the normal facial aging process often hits the eyes first.  Eyelid surgery to remove excess skin and fat is called blepharoplasty.

The aesthetics of the upper lids may be upper eyelid skin redundancy, but may also be evident due to a drooping forehead.  The surgeon can advise you as to how much of the problem are the eyelids alone or if brow surgery may be indicated.  Often small deposits of fat around the eye may be removed at the time of the eyelid surgery.  The lower eyelids similarly may have extra loose creepy skin and fat pads that need to be addressed to give a more youthful look.

Upper and lower eyelid surgery is often performed as an outpatient procedure either with mild sedation or full sleep if indicated.  When appropriate, patients may choose to combine eyelid surgery with other facial procedures as a facelift, brow lift, injectables or skin resurfacing.

Following eyelid surgery, patient’s usually return to work in seven to ten days.
