Buttock Augmentation

Buttock or gluteal augmentation is a relative "new comer" on the cosmetic surgery scene. Buttock augmentation can be performed with the patients own fat or with varying sizes of silicone implants.

Whether augmented with native fat or an implant most patients should have some liposuction performed at the same time to sculpt the back to buttock and the buttock to thigh contour zones.

When silicone implants are used, the implants can be placed below the fascia layer of the muscle or under a portion of the gluteal muscle itself. Determination of where to place the implant varies depending on the patient's anatomy.

Due to the nature of the surgical site in buttock augmentation patients must be very committed to the rigorous post operative care and fairly lengthy recovery time inherent with this procedure.

Long term satisfaction with gluteal augmentation is very high once patients get over the recovery period.
