Our office is committed to informed patient decisions in a friendly, personalized atmosphere. Dr. Nelson is a highly qualified surgeon with over 15 years of experience and will give you quality service from your decision to have surgery through full recovery.

About Dr. Nelson
Dr. Nelson was raised in the Phoenix area when his parents moved to Arizona in the late 1950’s. After two years of college, Dr. Nelson was accepted to Johns Hopkins University Medical School. Following medical school, Dr. Nelson completed general surgery training at the Medical College of Virginia and started academic pursuits in plastic surgery and wound healing research. Plastic Surgery training came from 1989 to 1991 at the University Of California San Diego (UCSD) and the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. From 1991 to 1995 Dr. Nelson was a staff plastic surgeon for UCSD where he helped train other surgeons in the art of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Nelson is the Chief of Plastic Surgery at Northwest Hospital (2000 to present) and Chief of Plastic Surgery at St. Mary’s Hospital (1997 to present). Dr. Nelson was Medical Director of St. Mary’s Burn and Wound Program from 1996 to 2006.
Dr. Nelson has written two book chapters, fourteen published plastic surgery articles and presented nationally or internationally over eighty times on plastic surgery issues. Dr. Nelson is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and is a member of numerous other societies.
Dr. Nelson’s current endeavors relate to laser technology to decrease surgical pain and hasten recovery from cosmetic surgery.
Dr. Nelson returned to Arizona and the desert he grew up with in 1995 and has practiced in Tucson ever since. An avid cyclist and tennis player, Dr. Nelson takes advantage of the Arizona climate. Dr. Nelson’s other sporting interests are boating, scuba diving, and snow skiing, as well as weight training.
At a very young age, Dr. Nelson knew he planned on a medical career, being accepted to medical school at the age of nineteen. An artist in oils, acrylic and water colors since elementary school, Dr. Nelson now enjoys large canvas abstract art as a hobby for creative output. Dr. Nelson’s art is displayed in numerous homes around Arizona and his office functions as a gallery for display.OUR STAFF
Kirsten
Kirsten has been in the medical field for 3.5 years working with a primary care physician and a sports medicine office before ours. She is the friendly voice you will hear first when contacting our office. She can also help with any procedure scheduling needs. Kirsten enjoys many hobbies and is currently enrolled in college working towards an Elementary Education degree.
Jessica Barba
Jessica has over ten years medical experience, working with burn patients public outreach and supervising support staff at St. Mary’s Hospital. She is currently our practice manager and handles all surgery scheduling. She is the person you will work the closest with from start to finish of your operative experience.
Holla’e Ploof-Mnatzaganian
B.A., A.S., R.E., C.E., C.E.P., C.L.T.
Holla’e brings twenty-five years experience in lasers to our practice. She was involved in pro-type laser protocols in the late 1980’s on the East Coast. Holla’e specializes in permanent hair reduction, non-ablative skin resurfacing, photodynamic therapies in the treatment of damaged skin, actinic keratosis, hypertrophic scar ablation and tissue tightening therapies.
She is also our skin care specialist representing our many lines of products.
