About Plastic Surgeon Jeffrey Nelson MD F.A.C.S.

Dr. Nelson was raised in the Phoenix area when his parents moved to Arizona in the late 1950’s. After two years of college, Dr. Nelson was accepted to Johns Hopkins University Medical School. Following medical school, Dr. Nelson completed general surgery training at the Medical College of Virginia and started academic pursuits in plastic surgery and wound healing research. Plastic Surgery training came from 1989 to 1991 at the University Of California San Diego (UCSD) and the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. From 1991 to 1995 Dr. Nelson was a staff plastic surgeon for UCSD where he helped train other surgeons in the art of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Nelson is the Chief of Plastic Surgery at Northwest Hospital (2000 to present) and Chief of Plastic Surgery at St. Mary’s Hospital (1997 to present). Dr. Nelson was Medical Director of St. Mary’s Burn and Wound Program from 1996 to 2006.

Dr. Nelson has written two book chapters, fourteen published plastic surgery articles and presented nationally or internationally over eighty times on plastic surgery issues. Dr. Nelson is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and is a member of numerous other societies.

Dr. Nelson’s current endeavors relate to laser technology to decrease surgical pain and hasten recovery from cosmetic surgery.

Dr. Nelson returned to Arizona and the desert he grew up with in 1995 and has practiced in Tucson ever since. An avid cyclist and tennis player, Dr. Nelson takes advantage of the Arizona climate. Dr. Nelson’s other sporting interests are boating, scuba diving, and snow skiing, as well as weight training.

At a very young age, Dr. Nelson knew he planned on a medical career, being accepted to medical school at the age of nineteen. An artist in oils, acrylic and water colors since elementary school, Dr. Nelson now enjoys large canvas abstract art as a hobby for creative output. Dr. Nelson’s art is displayed in numerous homes around Arizona and his office functions as a gallery for display.

Our Staff

Darcy Mercer - Service Coordinator

Darcy is most often that first friendly voice you hear when you contact the office. Darcy has over 10 years of experience with cosmetic practices. Darcy will coordinate your consultation experience, interface with Dr. Nelson on front office matters and help schedule procedures and follow up visits.

Jessica Barba

Jessica has more than 14 years of medical experience, working previously with public outreach for burn patients and supervising staff. Currently Jessica coordinates clinical care for our patients and handles all surgery scheduling. She is the person you will work closest with from start to finish in your operative experience.

Kerri

Kerri is a Tucson native who was raised in the beauty industry, with both parents owing cosmetology colleges and hair salons. Her desire to educate and excite people about having healthy skin drove her persue her Aesthetician license. Ms. Rage is proud to offer her years of experience and all of her special techniques to her services because this is what provides a unique personalized treatment for each and every client. She is a specialist in microdermabrasions, chemical peels and lasers using Palomar Starlux.

Kristin Wagner

Kristin is a personal expert in concierge services and catering providing top notch service for over 20 years. Kristin functions as a administrative assistant and adds expertise to all our special events.
