Gynecomastia
(Male Breast Reduction)

An enlarged male breast is called gynecomastia. This excess tissue of the male breast can be mild to quite severe. For most patients it represents extra glandular and fat development in the male breast. Occasionally there may even be excessive skin of the breast.

Most male gynecomastia is treated by liposuction of the chest through small access incisions and an incision around a portion of the areola (the skin disc that includes nipple on breast) that allows direct surgical excision of the denser glandular tissue of the breast. Very severe cases of gynecomastia may require excision of skin with the breast tissue. Dr. Nelson can direct you as to which option is best to accomplish your goals.
